Mobile Medical International’s mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare, in the most cost effective manner, throughout the world. We are dedicated to bringing tomorrow’s health care technology to the world today.
Propelled by the desire to make healthcare available to rural and under-served patient populations worldwide, especially surgical and advanced diagnostic and treatment services, Rick Cochran, Founder and CEO of Mobile Medical International Corporation [MMIC], developed the concept of a ‘mobile ambulatory surgery center’ and launched it into practical application during the early 1990’s.
After years of detailed engineering design work, and in-depth consultation with medical practitioners around the world, MMIC introduced the world’s first Mobile Surgery Unit (MSU™). The launch of the first unit was followed by a year dedicated to comprehensive clinical trials and rugged evaluations by a variety of healthcare industry interests including the United States military, hospitals and other provider personnel. These efforts ensured that the unit not only met the original vision but also enhanced the ability to deliver top quality healthcare in a variety of traditional and non-traditional settings. The information gathered during this time provided invaluable data, to both the medical professionals and the communities they served, on how to cost-effectively operate in a mobile medical environment.
“The potential for this unit in our readiness mission - our wartime mission - is very, very significant in terms of having an immediate U.S. standards healthcare facility on the ground in the first hour. It is a quantum leap over what we have now ... we did the whole spectrum of surgical procedures, and it was invisible. It was exactly the same as operating in my fixed facility.”
